Under 10's Colts- Manager: Jona Woodward
8th September : Kenilworth Colts 1 - 5 Central Ajax Colts
What a way to start the season , 12 players turning up and all playing at least half a
game. The first half started in a positive manner with Ajax doing a lot of attacking and
being rewarded with Rob scoring 2 great goals. Luke ran tirelessly up front and there was
some determined tackling from Owen & Tom Jackson.
In defence Alex and Jamieson weren’t really troubled with Daniel in his first game for us in
goal hardly having a shot to save. We were unlucky to go in at the break only 2 – 1 in front
after Kenilworth scored direct from a free kick at the end of the half.
The second half started with 5 changes and as opposed to last season where we struggled
with so many changes the team went from strength to strength. Slick passing continued
and we increased our lead with a trade mark ‘thunderbolt’ strike from Alex and then
followed some excellent passing with Ben sliding the ball forward twice for Joe to open his
account. If Joe had had 2 ‘blue’ boots on maybe he would have had his hat-trick but
wearing a red one on his left foot he hit the post !! The parents watching couldn’t believe
what they were seeing , everyone was calm and exclaims of ‘we’re actually playing football’
were heard. Bring on the rest of the season so we can show our own ‘sexy football’. Of
course it was all down to the managers’ pre season training at altitude in Spain for 3
weeks !!! The boys made me feel so proud and I didn’t lose my voice . Fantastic start
